Join romance, suspense, mystery and paranormal author Elena Dorothy Bowman, author of The Gatekeeper's Realm, as she virtually tours the blogosphere in July on her first virtual book tour!Elena is a published author who writes in several genres including science fiction, mystery, romance and the paranormal. She has been writing for over thirty years. She actually started writing when she was a teenager, although she didn't submit any of it for publication. She started to write in earnest as a challenge to herself. She really wanted to see if she could write a full-length novel, not just short stories or the technical papers that were a part of her profession in the aerospac e industry. Publication finally came after many years of perseverance. Her early interst in space and working in the space industry captured her imagination and was instrumental in writing her first novel in the Sarah's Landing series - Sarah's Landing - I - Contact. The first book in the series was published in hardcover, soft-cover, e-book and as an audio book. The audio book won the APA award for one of the best audio books in 2001. All four books have now been contracted for and released in ebook format with a new publisher—Write Words, Inc., ebooksonthe.net — and will be released as a trade paperback edition by their imprint Cambridge Books sometime in 2007. When the series was completed, she thought about writing a mystery novel. The mystery novel turned out to be a Romantic Suspense/Mystery/Thriller with a touch of the paranormal. It surprised her to say the least. She didn't know she could write in that genre. The House On The Bluff turned out to be the first in a series, and has now been published by Write Words, Inc., ebooksonthe.net as an e-book, and as a trade paperback edition by Cambridge Books. The other two novels in the series are now out in ebook formats by Write Words, Inc., ebooksonthe.net. The second book in the series, The Gatekeeper's Realm, is scheduled to be released as a trade paperback edition by their imprint, Cambridge Books in June, 2007. During the course of writing novels, she has written novellas and short stories, several of which had been published and won awards. Not all were in the science fiction genre, some were non-fiction, and others in the mystery/paranormal genre. And during this time she also co-wrote and co-produced a musical play which was performed at the Merrimack Regional Theater, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to a standing room only audience. She is a former aerospace software engineer, an Honors graduate of Fitchburg College earning a BS Degree in Engineering and Management. She also served as an officer in the Massachusetts Chapter of the National League of American PenWomen. Believing they were being held captive by the house, to the land surrounding it, and to the bay beyond, they felt they had no choice but to see where it would all lead. The unnerving feeling of always being watched crept over them; that creepy-hair-rising feeling something, somewhere, monitoring their every move was waiting. Waiting for what? To catch them off guard, to whisk them away to a place from which would never return? ### The Gatekeeper's Realm Excerpt: Pacing back and forth on the Widow's Walk overlooking the bay and the vast ocean beyond it, Abigail nervously awaited the arrival of her first guests. They were coming by boatóEthan's boat. Ethan and Tony Harridan, the town's sheriff, a sometimes-permanent resident of the infamous Inn when he wasn't working at his job on the mainland, met their first adventurers at the dock in Caleb's Cove. Once the group had gathered, they were to board the Abigail for a sightseeing cruise along the coastline and the sea-lanes between the various islands to the Inn on Adam's Pointóall part of the package. Knowing it would add an air of mystery to the Inn, formerly known as the foreboding Pierce House, Abigail and Ethan set the stage for their guests by having them approach the house overlooking the bay in a modern day, state-of-the-art, two-masted schooner. It was up to Ethan and Tony to mesmerize them with tales of Abigail's and their own ominous beginnings in the house, and how the Inn came to be. The stories included: the relic of the Royal Knight, the significance of the special Land Grant displayed in a frame on the wall, the haunting strains emanating from an elusive Stradivarius, and the legend surrounding Adam's Point. And, of course, there was the possibility of becoming entangled in a web the Inn might weave. Ethan brushed over the fact that he was the first person who dared sail into the Bay of Death alone. And announced that the guests now had the honor of being the first full ship's complement to break the curse on the bay leading up to the old Pierce House, now officially known as The House On The Bluff.
